The 2016 16″ and 18″ Sunday Primers are once again a perfect choices for younger shredders. In the past we’ve tested the Sunday Primers at BMX Groms and the Sunday Radocaster frame – which shares the same geometry – and been impressed.

Our Sunday Radocaster “Hands On” Review

Our Sunday Primer 16 and 18 Inch “Hands On” Review

Geometry

Sunday has taken the younger age group of riders seriously and developed it’s 16 and 18 inch frame geometry to feel the same as a 20″ BMX would to a larger rider. Last year when we tested the Radocaster frame we noticed our test rider progressing in some areas, within an hour of switching to the frame. Tricks such as half-cabs, 360’s and 540’s, higher hops and popping up into manuals are easier.

Highlights

Highlights include: the frame and forks feature cromo dropouts, they come with cromo cranks featuring mid sealed bottom brackets, seat/seatpost combos and Odyssey brakes.

The 16″ comes with a 16″ specific brake lever for those smaller hands, a 40mm reach top load stem and this year the 16″ comes with Sunday Current tires.

The 18″ comes with a Sunday Freeze frontload stem and Sunday cornerstone grips.

The stock Primers will be more than strong enough for most riders in the age range for these bikes. However if you get to the point you want to upgrade the 18″, you could buy the Sunday Radocaster full cromo frame and fork set, switch it up and you wouldn’t even have to get used to a new bike – the geometry is the same.

Verdict

If you’re thinking of purchasing a new bike and you like the Primers, BMX Grom’s verdict is: “Choose the right size and send it!”

Getting the right size bike is really important and Sunday has taken things a step further with their proportional geometry.
