Dave Mirra Tribute Post

BMX Legend Dave MirraSad news today with the loss of Dave Mirra. Here is a little tribute post with some early Dave Mirra “Go The Rider’s Manual” Magazine Clips from Dave Mirra’s grom days – which I found in the archives.

Pictured right is Dave Mirra in the February 1991 Go Magazine (picture taken by none other than the legend Spike Jonze, from an article about a NBL/Make a Wish Foundation Pro/Am Freestyle contest in Norfolk, Virginia, held on October 26 and 27, 1990. Here is what the writer/reporter Brett Downs had to say about Dave:

“Dave Mirra, one of the few factory riders of the weekend (Dyno), spun 540’s so high he scared himself. Grinds, nosepicks, and big airs with an intense desire took the not-so-little buddy to first place.”

Pictured below is a mini interview, plus bike check, with Dave Mirra from the December 1991 issue of GO. At the time Dave was just getting ready to turn pro. Dave Mirra also got the last page in the same issue, with a whip to 180 bar attempt – BMX history!
