Harry Schofield BMX Bike Check 12 Inch Cult Juvi
Harry is a rad 6 year old grom from Brighton, south east England. We caught up with Harry and did a bike check, just as he was switching from a 12″ to a 16″ BMX. The modifications and upgrades to the 12″ Cult Juvi Harry has been riding are listed. The new Cult Juvi 16″ is stock for now!

Name: Harry Schofield
Age: 6
Height: 123cm / 48.5″
How long have you been riding BMX?: Riding bike no stabilisers: 2yrs 3months. BMX only for about 18 months, as we didn’t used to live close to skate park or BMX track. Learnt most of my skills riding the close we lived in!
Favourite type of riding? (Park, Trails, Street…) Love riding anything and everything as long as its got wheels!
For someone your age, just starting out in BMX, what tips would you have? Be confident, don’t worry what other people think or do, just ride and have fun. The more you ride the better you will get. Pads and helmet important.

BMX Groms Official BMX Bike Sizing Guide

What size BMX Bike should I ride?

We’ve tracked some of the raddest BMX Groms in the world, as they’ve progressed, grown and moved from one bike size to another. These are the bike sizes that these shredders are most comfortable riding and if you want to progress like they are, have fun and stay safer – take a serious look at this BMX bike sizing guide.

Thanks to the many kids and parents, who have provided the input to help make this guide possible. One of the number one reasons – maybe the number one reason – for younger riders getting discouraged and quitting BMX, is being bought a bike for them to “grow into”. Get a bike the right size – not one to grow into!

Tips on transitioning from one size to the next.

Lukas and Nathan Halahan: 2016 FBM BMX Bike Checks

Halahan 2016 FBM BMX Bike Checks
The first words that come to mind when thinking of the Halahan brothers riding are speed, style, flow and fun. All 4 of these words are hard to convey in photos and even in video edits. These two dudes kill it on their bikes and if you hang around them a little, it doesn’t take long to notice they’re having a blast doing it. Their bikes are completely dialed for both sizing and their riding style. Check them out carefully and learn.

Every year in March, Lukas and Nathan put on a jam at the Wheelmill in Pittsburg – yes they are already giving back to the sport. The jam is fun, has something for everyone and is definately the best place to see the most grom talent at one event. This year the Next Generation Jam is planned for March 19. Hope to see you there.

Favourite type of riding? My favourite type of riding has to be park riding although I will have a blast at the dirt jumps when I get the chance.
Best spot to ride? I love to ride different parks, meet new riders and generally progress. My favourite park has to my local skate park Rampworx in Liverpool as it has everything you need to learn and progress. I am fortunate as I sometimes get to ride with the Pro riders, Harry Main and Anton McGuirk to mention a few who help and encourage me. I also have lots of BMX and scooter rider friends at Rampworx and we just meet up, ride and have fun.
Favourite trick? My favourite trick has to be the bar spin – I love to bar spin! The next tricks on my list to master are the double whip and the flair.
You recently switched from an 18 inch bike to a 20 inch bike. Was it a hard transition? I found the switch a lot easier than I thought it would be. Some tricks I mastered straight away, some were a little more difficult but I’m starting to feel more comfortable and confident the more I ride.
What made you decide to make the switch to a 20″? A few of the riders at my local park have commented over the past 6 months that I needed to upgrade to a bigger bike but I still felt comfortable on the 18 inch. It’s only over the summer holidays that my legs felt a bit restricted so decided it was time to make the switch.
